5Great Table, But Could Benefit from Alternative Assembly Instructions
By John
Excellent ping-pong table.

Pros:
--Very heavy;
--Table well-priced from this vendor;
--Timely--if expensive--shipping;
--Sturdy;
--Well-engineered;
--Simple assembly;
--Once assembled, easily stowed and moved around.

Cons:
--Very heavy;
--The single, 300-lb box arrived torn, beat up, breached at all the corners, and crudely duct-taped; it looked awful, but good packaging prevented serious product damage, with just one corner of each table-half dinged slightly;
--Sparse assembly instructions; would benefit from additional detail and, especially, better photos and/or diagrams;
--Following assembly instructions as written is difficult and potentially dangerous for two average adults; safer and easier alternative steps suggested below.

The critical assembly step (#6) requires each table half to be vertical, lifted with the bottom edge about two and a half feet off the floor, and the two track bolts (slotted alignment pins) at the bottom. In this precarious vertical position, the table half must be guided into precise position above the angled track bars at each side, with each track bolt directly above its corresponding slot in the track bar. The table half must then be lowered so that the track bolts slide into the slots in the angled track bars, at the same rate on each side so that binding does not occur.

Given that each table half weighs more than 100 lbs, and is dangerously unwieldy when held vertically three feet off the floor, this assembly step is difficult if not impossible for the average couple to complete. The instructions require a third person as well, to pull the locking plungers on each table half, to allow the track bolts to fit into the guide channels.

There is an easier and safer way.

Instead of installing the table halves vertically, install them horizontally. Lifting and maneuvering a heavy table half horizontally, below your waistline, is easily accomplished by a couple. It does require one or two props, however.

First, on each table half, pull the locking plungers back and secure temporarily with duct tape. Now, complete assembly steps 1 through 5 per the included instructions.

The goal is to assemble as much of the table as possible before installing the table top halves. In particular, assure that the white table legs (H-legs) are upright and securely bolted to the curved sidemember bars, and that the other ends of the curved bars are bolted to the frame near the wheels. These H-legs will support the outboard side of the table half while you maneuver the other end into the guide slots in the angled track bars. As you lower the track bolts into their slots, you will need to stop when they are about one inch in, and bolt the straight sidemember bars to the bottom of the table half. (The other ends of the straight sidemember bars should already have been bolted to the frame near the wheels.) To hold the inward side of the table half in this position, one or two sturdy supports of the right height--26.5 to 28.5 inches--are required. I used a couple adjustable outfeed roller stands I happened to have in my wood shop. These supports should be in place near the inboard end of the table half, before you move the table half into place. Now, with the track bolts just barely in their slots, and the table half safely supported at both ends, one of you can bolt the straight support arms and white legs to the table, while the other person nudges each corner upward as needed to align the bolt holes. When all is secure, you can remove the support props and duct tape, and repeat the whole procedure for the other table half.

You can dispense with the support props if a third person is available: two people can hold up the inboard end of the table half, while the third installs the bolts underneath.

After unpacking and figuring out the alternative steps, assembly took about an hour.

4Stable and portable
By Dumbledore
I needed a high quality table that could be moved, since the location where the table is used, has other uses also. This table will fold up and roll easily to be stored against a wall. There are cables attached to locking pins that don't engage easily, and may need some modification, to include drilling of the side bars. One of the eye-hooks that act as a pulley for the cable arrived bent, and needed to be revised.
Initial assembly will require either two strong individuals or a third person. The sturdiness of the table comes from the weight of the two sides. They really do weigh 150# each, so if you and your associate can't each lift 75# relatively easily, get some help.
The table is a joy to play on with a very responsive bounce. Better than average players who have been using a cheaper table will immediately appreciate what the professionals enjoy!
